Capiphon Drainbelt and Draintube were invented and patented by Mr. Ming–Chun Hu and Mr. Yung-An Tu. As a civil engineering contractor Mr. Tu noted that most failures of earth structures were due to the ineffectiveness of conventional drainage systems and their propensity to be get clogged up with silt over the long term. Their invention eliminated this and other problems and the patent gained several international awards for technological.Their invention eliminated this and other problems and the patent gained several international awards for technological innovation, including Best Invention at the 1999 iENA International Trade Fair for Ideas, Inventions & New products.

History
What is it?
There are two core products in the Capiphon range: Drainbelt and Draintube.
Drainbelt is an extruded PVC belt. It is smooth on one side. The other side contains grooves made up of a slit and a straw-like cavity. The standard belt is 2mm thick, 200mm wide and is supplied in rolls of 50m length, other widths.
The grooves are Ωmega shaped, with an opening slit of 0.3mm width and a capillary straw, a tube-like cavity, of 1mm diameter.
Draintube is a plastic pipe wrapped in Drainbelt. The tubes are 60mm in diameter, 1m in length and are jointed with sleeve connectors. The connectors allow the water flowing in the outer Drainbelt to discharge into the tube and to thereafter flow inside the tube and flow away. Other widths and lengths are available, but they are all 2mm in thickness.
In the UK
